Guangzhou · Panyu District · 长隆飞鸟乐园

A sky full
of wings.

Chimelong Birds Park is a wetland world of more than 10,000 birds in Guangzhou — flamingo lagoons, crane marshes, walk-through aviaries and lakeside arenas where whole flocks fly low over your head. Forty minutes from downtown, and a short hop from the Safari Park.

01 · The Park

A wetland kingdom,
ruled by birds.

Chimelong Birds Park (长隆飞鸟乐园) sits on a chain of lagoons and marshes in Guangzhou's Panyu District, home to more than 10,000 birds across 300-plus species. It began life as a crocodile park — a few crocodiles still lurk in the water — but today the birds run the show: flamingo lagoons, walk-through aviaries, raptors' lawns and one of the most complete crane collections on earth.

Unlike a traditional zoo, almost everything here is interactive. Hand-feed lorikeets, watch pelicans gulp their lunch, and stand beneath a sky of wings at the lakeside flight show. Flat, stroller-friendly paths and shaded boardwalks make it one of the easiest full-family days in Guangzhou — and with the Safari Park just twenty minutes away, most travelers pair the two.

Flamingo Lagoon

The first lagoon past the gates holds hundreds of flamingos, filtering the shallows with their heads upside-down. They're at their most animated in the cool morning hours — arrive early and you'll have the pinkest view in Guangzhou almost to yourself.

The Symphony of Birds

At the lakeside arena, the park's headline show: flocks of pelicans, cranes and macaws sweeping low over the water in choreographed waves. It's loud, it's beautiful, and the front rows catch the spray. Arrive fifteen minutes early for a good seat.

Lorikeet Landing

Buy a nectar cup at the aviary door, hold it steady, and wait: rainbow lorikeets land on your arm, your hand, occasionally your head. Ten minutes of pure joy — the most interactive encounter in the park, and a guaranteed highlight for kids.

The Crane Wetlands

Chimelong keeps one of the world's most complete crane collections — elegant, ancient-looking birds most visitors have never met up close. Wander the boardwalks in the late afternoon, when the light turns golden and the cranes are at their most theatrical.

The Safari Park is about 15–20 minutes away by taxi or resort shuttle. Birds in the morning, animals in the afternoon — or split them across two days if you're traveling with small kids.

Opening hours

Typically 09:30 – 18:00, year-round. The day's show schedule is posted at the gate every morning — plan around it.

Yes, but it's a full day. Birds Park is the calmer of the two — many travelers do birds in the morning, Safari in the afternoon. With young children, split them across two days; you'll enjoy both far more.

Sun protection and comfortable shoes are the essentials — most of the park is outdoors. Feeding cups and shows are included with entry unless marked otherwise; bring a little cash/card for nectar cups and snacks.

It's one of the most toddler-friendly attractions in Guangzhou: flat stroller paths, shaded boardwalks, hand-feeding encounters and shows built for short attention spans. Hold little ones close during the raptor show — the owls fly low.

Weekday mornings, when the birds are most active and the light is at its best. Spring and autumn are the kindest seasons; in high summer, plan around the midday heat — the birds nap, and so should you.

Three to five hours covers the lagoons, the flight show and the feeding encounters at an easy pace. Bird lovers, photographers and families regularly lose the whole day here — happily.

One last thing

Ten thousand wings.
One unforgettable day.
